Belvedere House

Belvedere House & Gardens is the newest attraction in the Midlands. The magnificient early 18th century home of Robert Rochfort, Earl of Belvedere, stands in 160 acres of parkland on the shores of Lough Ennell. A multi-media experience tells the story of Rochfort's cruel 31 year imprisonment of his second wife, Sir John Piers seduction of Lady Cloncurry and the creation of Ireland's largest man-made folly - the Jealous Wall.

Mullingar Golf Club

Rathcolman Lodge is located approximately ten minutes by car from Mullingar golf club. Located on the magnificent rolling hills at Belvedere is regarded as one of the best of James Braid's finest designs. Mullingar golf club's championship status has been proven by its hosting of the Irish Professional Championship and the Irish matchplay championship.

 

Trout Angling

Mullingar is surrounded by large and prolific limestone lakes. These include Lough Owell, Ennell, Mountdalton and Sheelin. The river angler can fish for browns along the Inny, Brosna and Deel. Open season extends March to September with Shannon Fisheries Board permits and boat hire available locally.
